GRAPHIC DESIGN

The best graphics look effortless, but as with any form of art, there's a lot going on behind the surface of a great design. I've had the chance to create graphics in many of the professional and volunteer positions I've held, and each project teaches me more about the subtle details that bring a design to life.

All of the images below were created using Canva, a growing favorite in the multimedia design world. I also have experience on several other design programs and find the fundamental skills behind each are very transferrable.

Video Editing

VIDEO EDITING

The mark of good editor is not noticing the editing at all. This can make it hard to showcase some of the most interesting aspects of a video editing project! For each of the videos below there is a written description that explains the context of the project and highlights the most interesting behind the scenes editing work.

I've been using the free version of Blackmagic's Davinci Resolve, a professional level editing program, for the last five years. I'm also familiar with several consumer level editing programs.

Web Design

WEB DESIGN

There's no better fusion of creativity and functionality than a website. The design and the user experience of the site go hand and hand, communicating information and guiding the viewer to the desired outcome. Whatever the style of the website, good design is essential in making it a useful tool.

I've taken on several paid web design projects for friends and acquaintances under the business name Josh Webb Design. The two featured sites below were created using the website builders offered by my clients' site hosting providers. I also have experience with Wordpress, Webflow, and Wix in addition to basic coding knowledge.

Career Designs Homepage.png

I created this one-page custom website for a local business owner who wanted to expand her online presence. I started with an expansive header featuring images of professionals in a variety of work settings to assist visitors in imagining their own career goals. In the next sections, I wrote copy about available services to help visitors identify themselves as potential clients based on their unique needs. Next, I added sections with information about the owner and some reviews from past clients to build familiarity and trust with the brand. Finally, the site ends with a contact page where potential clients can connect with the business.

I created this multi-page custom website for a local business that needed a new and updated site. Provided with the images from their previous site, I created a website that heavily featured examples of the company's past work. The pages are structured to give visitors multiple ways to access the same information, allowing customers to learn about the services offered whether they know exactly what they need or are browsing for some inspiration. The site is optimized for desktop, tablets, and mobile devices so potential customers can discover this business no matter how they're using the internet.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Taking a good photo is less about the quality of the camera and more about the eye of the photographer. All of the photos below were taken using standard settings on an iPhone 6, iPhone 8, or iPhone 11 with minimal editing. I'm lucky to have visited some beautiful places in the world and I've taken the opportunity to hone my photographer's eye wherever I travel.
